In a previous blog, I talked about the first powder foundation I used a teen. Well, my first tinted moisturizer as a teen was Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer. I remember my mom bought me a kit they used to sell filled with a handful of their popular products. I wish they would sell that kit again.
Since I was younger, Laura Mercier’s Tinted Moisturizer has been my HG tinted moisturizer. It is the best I have ever tried. What I love about Laura’s products is that they create high-quality makeup and skincare products. As of yet, I have not tried a product from Laura Mercier I have not liked. French women have beautiful skin, and they don’t overdo it with their makeup. France has some amazing skincare products. And, Laura Mercier brought that “flawless face” look over to the US and all around the world.
Brief History of Laura Mercier
Laura Mercier named her beauty line after herself. She had attended a very prestigious beauty school in France and later went on to become a makeup artist. In 1996 she launched her brand Laura Mercier cosmetics. In an interview, Laura had she mentioned that she brought the tinted moisturizer to the U.S since it was an item already used by women in France. For me, Laura Mercier is a classic in the beauty world. I think Laura Mercier created the no-makeup makeup look. But, if you want to go full-on glam makeup, she has those products too.
My favorite Laura Mercier Products
Currently, I am super low on my LM products, and I received many LM mini’s from past orders that I am trying to use up. I would love if LM sold a “best of” mini kit.
1. Laura Mercier Foundation Primer
All of Laura Mercier’s primers are water-based and have a small concentration of light silicones. I am not a fan of full of silicone primers. Their original primer is very light on the skin and has a gel light texture. And it is super hydrating. It creates a smooth texture for any foundation/tinted moisturizer. What I love about this primer is it leaves my skin feeling fresh and plump. While Laura Mercier’s line would not be described as using “clean” ingredients, most of their products do include ingredients that benefit the skin. If you need even more hydration, they have a hydrating primer that I hope to try one day.
2. Laura Mercier Foundation Primer- Protect Broad Spectrum SPF 30/PA+++
I always put SPF on under any makeup. Even if a makeup product says, it has SPF I still always put out an SPF underneath. But, I am always on the hunt for a great primer with SPF for days when I am too lazy to apply another SPF first on my face. I was super excited to try their SPF primer. It is a UVA/UVB broad-spectrum sunscreen and an antioxidant vitamin complex that helps protect skin against harmful, aging effects of the environment.
It is as hydrating as their original primer, and most important it didn’t irritate my skin. So many SPF’s cause my skin to get a blemish/whiteheads, so I am always cautious with products with SPF. This primer is lightweight and doesn’t pill at all. The primer absorbs quickly into the skin, and is long lasting. I think all of Laura Mercier’s primers must be wonderful. So, I would recommend picking the one right for your skin type.
3. Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 20 Sunscreen
For the past five years, I have tried so many tinted moisturizers to see if I could find one of love more than Laura Mercier’s. And, I have come to a conclusion that for my skin that Laura Mercier’s is the best I will ever find. Most of my life, I have had normal skin, and since using tretinoin and a lactic acid, my face has gotten drier. Laura Mercier’s Tinted Moisturizer provides an excellent sheer coverage to give you the whole “my skin but better” look.
It has broad spectrum SPF 20 UVB/UVA sunscreen plus a power-blend of antioxidant vitamins C and E help protect skin from the damaging effects of the environment. Her formula gives the face a beautiful glowy and dewy look. The moisturizer blends beautifully with either a beauty sponge or your hands. I find that it lasts on my face most of the day, and it makes my skin look super healthy. Because of this tinted moisturizer, I had been doing the whole no-makeup look most of my life. I love the look of a fresh, dewy, and healthy face. And, I am not a fan of a full-coverage foundation, because I never had a lot of acne I needed to cover up. I don’t think I could ever find another tinted moisturizer equal to this one or as good. I can see myself even using this at 100.
4. Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour Eyeshadow
When it comes to everyday makeup, I like to keep it simple. I am not one to spend time blending different shades of eyeshadow to create a certain look. I love this eye colour stick because they are super easy to use. The stick applies smoothly and blends easily with a brush or your fingers. I have the rose gold color, which is very pigmented and is long lasting. It is a very creamy formula that doesn’t crease on me.
5. Laura Mercier Lip Glacé
I don’t use lip gloss daily, but I do appreciate a glossy look. Their lip glacé provides a beautiful pop of color that leaves your lips looking plump and juicy. I found it to be moisturizing on my lips and not too sticky like typical lip glosses.
6. Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Powder- in Highlight-01
I have a slight addiction to light/champagne color highlighters. Their highlighter is a smooth baked face powder that gives a soft matte radiance to the skin. I think you can use this powder all over your face, but I use it at the tops of my cheekbones, and it leaves a healthy glow to my skin.
It has a pearl undertone and gives you that whole “lite from within” look. So, if you want a highlighter someone can see from outer space this isn’t the one for you. But, it is noticeable as a highlighter. It is a long lasting powder that is finely milled without any glitter. The other colors in this product are bronzers, and while they have another product that is specifically labeled as a highlighter, this matte radiance baked powder in the shade highlight will always be my go-to favorite.
7. Laura Mercier Second Skin Cheek Color in Lush Nectarine( discontinued), new blush Blush Colour Infusion in Grapefruit is a similar color.
Ok, technically they discontinued their Second Skin Cheek Color. But, I still felt I should review it since it is similar in ways to their new Blush Colour Infusion. I enjoyed using this blush that provides a beautiful flush to the skin and was finely milled. I thought it gave a beautiful finish on the skin and melted into my skin. Their newest blush product called Blush Colour Infusion I tried recently from a friend who has it in Grapefruit, and it was a similar coral color to Lush Nectarine. I thought their newest formula looked/felt similar to their old color.
8. Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder
Laura Mercier’s Translucent setting powder is a classic. I am not a big setting powder fan, and I have dry skin. But, this sets makeup nicely without making it very matte. And, I love that it leaves a nice light glow to the skin without having glitter in it at all. So, I am a fan.
