If there is one skincare product that I will repurchase throughout my life it would be Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micellar water. I am a skincare junkie so I love trying new products to review. But, there are probably under ten beauty products I always repurchase.
I first discovered Bioderma a few years ago when I was planning a trip to Paris. Before my trip I researched the most popular products to pick up in French pharmacies and watched many Youtube video’s on people’s french skincare travel hauls. So, I added Bioderma’s Micellar water to my list of things I had to buy.
What is Bioderma Sensibio Micellar Water
It is a gentle cleansing water than can even remove waterproof make-up. According to their website “Sensibio H2O is the 1st and only dermatological micellar water perfectly compatible with the skin: its fatty acid esters, the constituent elements of micelles, are similar to the phospholipids of the skin cell membranes and naturally help rebuild the skin’s hydrolipidic film.” Since it is a micellar water you don’t need to rinse it off after you use it.
Truly Gentle Ingredients for Sensitive Skin
This micellar water is truly made for sensitive skin. One day I was not paying attention and grabbed a bottle on my vanity that I thought was my contact lens solution to rinse off/disinfect my contacts and stick them in my eye. I wondered why my contacts were not sticking in my eye when I tried to put them on. And, the contacts were losing their shape. I thought it was super odd.
Then, I realized I had been rinsing my contacts with my Bioderma Micellar Water and not my contact lens solution! Thankfully, my eyes didn’t burn or sting. Plus, I didn’t get an eye infection. But, I still rinsed my eyes out with cold water. Most makeup removers with harsh oils or chemicals would have hurt my eyes, so I am thankful that I didn’t hurt my eyes.
Ingredients in Bioderma Sensibio
According to their website, the following ingredients are in the sensibio version “AQUA/WATER/EAU, PEG-6 CAPRYLIC/CAPRIC GLYCERIDES, FRUCTOOLIGOSACCHARIDES, MANNITOL, XYLITOL, RHAMNOSE, CUCUMIS SATIVUS (CUCUMBER) FRUIT EXTRACT, PROPYLENE GLYCOL, CETRIMONIUM BROMIDE, DISODIUM EDTA”.
The cucumber extract leaves the face to feel soft and refreshed.
It is free of the following: fragrance, soap, alcohol, paraben. Plus, it is hypoallergenic.
How To Use
I douse a cotton pad with this micellar water and sweep it all over my face. In the morning I only splash my face with cold water, so I typically only use this at night or after I exercise.
Which Bioderma Micellaire Water Do I Buy?
So, Bioderma makes their micellar water for 3 different skin types.
- 1.Bioderma Sensibio H20: for sensitive skin
- 2.Bioderma Hydrabio H20: for dry skin. Unlike the Sensibio this one includes glycerin and niacinamide. Glycerin is a humectant that attracts water to the skin so your skin will feel extra hydrated after you use it. And, Niacinamide ( Vitamin B) helps improve the skin’s barrier and helps with hydration. Unlike the Sensibio line, this one includes fragrance. I buy this one occasionally and enjoy it but I don’t buy it often because I prefer the Sensibio line without fragrance.
- 3.Bioderma Sébium H20: for oily/acne-prone skin. This version has two ingriedents that help with oily/acne-prone skin tones which are Copper Sulfate and Zinc Gluconate. This one has fragrance in it though.
My Experience
For everyday makeup, I usually to do the “no makeup” makeup look. I love wearing a tinted moisturizer and an easy look for my eyes. I don’t wear heavy makeup. But, for me, this does a great job at taking off my makeup and leaving my face feeling refreshed and hydrated. My face doesn’t feel stripped of my oils after taking off my makeup. If I am tired I only use this to take off my makeup. But, if I have more time I wash my face with a gentle cleanser and then take off any remaining makeup with this makeup remover. This is one item that I know I will always want to repurchase.
