If you have dry skin while on tretinoin a new foundation you will adore is Makeup Forever Reboot Active Caring Foundation that’s on my latest review lineup. I first bought this about two years ago, and have loved it ever since. Makeup Forever is one brand that I have always loved because they make a lot of quality staples in my makeup routine. But, this was the first foundation I tried from them and it is a true winner.
Makeup Forever Reboot Foundation Claims
According to their website the foundation, “skincare-infused foundation smooths, firms, and significantly reduces the appearance of wrinkles while increasing hydration for 24 hours”. I don’t have any wrinkles yet, so I am not sure about those claims. But, it was very hydrating.
Ingredients in Makeup Forever Reboot Foundation
According to their website, they say, “Ginseng stimulates collagen production, Camellia Japonica helps restore skin’s natural glow, and Mondo Grass helps strengthen the skin’s protective barrier”.
My Experience with Makeup Forever Reboot Active Caring Foundation
So, when I test foundations/tints, I test them out in 5 different ways- by itself on clean skin, with moisturizer only, with my Smashbox Primerizer, with my Elta MD Clear SPF 46, and Skin 1004 Hyalu-CICA Water-fit Sun Serum
Skin Prep: For my skincare, I usually do the following before SPF and makeup. I apply fast-absorbing Vitamin C( l-ascorbic acid). If I am not in a rush I apply a lightweight moisturizer and let it sink in for 1 hour. But, if I am in a rush I just apply my SPF and let it sink in for 20 minutes.

Different Application Methods
For most of the year, I use tretinoin which had made my face a dry face type. So, it’s very hard above all to find a foundation that doesn’t look dry. Also, I found all methods to prove long-lasting. I have a dry face type, so I don’t normally have problems with makeup not lasting long unless it transfers.
Bare Face: Doesn’t cling to dry spots, and sets matte.
Moisturizer-Doesn’t cling to dry spots and sets more satin.
Smashbox Primerizer– Doesn’t cling to dry spots and sets very dewy.
Elta UV Clear 46 SPF: Doesn’t cling to dry spots, but doesn’t set dewy. More satin finish.
Skin1004 Madagascar Centella Hyalu-Cica Water-Fit Sun Serum: It didn’t work with this SPF. It clung to dry spots and set very matte.
Overall Thoughts
For me, the biggest two things with foundations is that they don’t set matte/look dry and that they don’t cling to dry spots. This foundation looks beautiful on my skin and is very skin-like. It is slightly luminous on my face without anything underneath it. If I want more of a glow I can just add on a glowy primer under it. My face looks very healthy with it on and works at least with my elta spf. I need to find a new SPF soon that is more hydrating and works well with makeup. This feels a bit and works a bit like Mac Face and Body sheer radiance foundation, but not as dewy and with a bit more coverage.
