Over the past few years I have focused more on products that would fall under the “clean beauty” category, and one clean beauty brand I discovered last year was Orgaid with their face masks. Orgaid’s newest product is their Organic Face Oil with Amaranth Squalene.
I have skin on the drier side due to using tretinoin( retinoid) and chemical exfoliants(AHA’s/BHA’s) throughout the week. So, I love trying out different face oils to moisturize my skin.
Brief History of Orgaid
The founder of Orgaid is Dr. Ian Baek. He wanted to create a skincare brand that delivered the benefit of organic ingredients to the body. Currently, Orgaid’s headquarters are in California.
I love following clean beauty. Over the past two years for my skincare, I have been concentrating on investing in products with quality clean beauty ingredients. According to their website they ” create high-end performance natural skincare products from scientifically-proven methods.”
Some Quick Facts on this Face Oil
- Acts as Natural Emollient: softens the skin and locks in moisture
- Vegan and cruelty-free because extracted from the seed of Amaranth flower
- Contains many nutrients from the extraction process vs chemically synthesized Squalane
- Squalene is the raw and pure form of Squalane. Squalane is chemically synthesized.
- They use a CO2 extraction of the Amaranth seed extract which is must more environmentally friendly because it does not require any hot or cold pressing. ( here is an interesting study I found if you would like to read more about the topic of squalene https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/11782209/)
Squalene and Squalane are both different. So, I’d recommending researching more about them because they are both becoming super popular in skincare items over the last few years.
Ingredients in Orgaid’s Face Oil

- Once extracted via Supercritical CO2 extraction, Amaranth extract, is the leading natural, plant-based, and sustainable source of Squalene up to 8%.

What Did I Think of Orgaid Organic Face Oil?
So, before I give my review it’s important to go over my face type again.
My face type- So, my skin is on the drier side. I have not yet had heavy acne. But, I am acne-prone with the monthly blemish. I use tretinoin cream (retinoid) 3x a week and another AHA/BHA 2x a week as a chemical exfoliant. So, because of the products I use on my face, it makes my face drier. When I don’t use tretinoin or chemical exfoliants my face is on the normal side ( not dry or oily).
I had given my face a break from skincare actives right before using this oil, and I had a dry spot on my face from over using a chemical exfoliant. After using this oil for 2 nights it fixed and hydrated that dry spot back to normal. So, I loved that of course.
I only used a few drops of the oil every time, and it soaked in within 5 minutes. You don’t need to put a lot of this product on your face, and if you do then it will take a lot longer to soak into your skin. ( The first time I used it I got excited and put half a dropper amount filled on my face and neck. But, with face oil’s they are by nature very spreadable so you don’t need to add a lot to your face/neck)
I liked using this oil at night and felt by the time I woke up my face was moisturized and supple. I didn’t have any negative reactions from it either, so that is a plus.
When I used this oil under a tinted moisturizer it gave my face a healthy dewy glow for the day and since I have a dry skin type it doesn’t look oily at all.
Would I recommend it?
YES! Especially if your skin is on the drier side or if you need any area of your skin to heal from overusing a product.
Orgaid was kind enough to send me this product complimentary in exchange for my honest review. So, thank you to them. https://www.orgaid.com/
