I personally believe Paris has some of the worlds best bakeries. Parisian pastry chefs create beautiful edible works of art that belong in the Louvre on display. Here’s my top pick of the best bakeries in Paris.
I have a big sweet tooth, and one thing I have always associated with Paris is their sweet fancy looking treats. As of yet, I have not had a bad dessert in Paris ( Of course I research bakeries well before going). Below are some of my favorites I have tried.
1. Pierre Hermé ( locations throughout Paris)
I am pretty sure this guy is a legend in Paris. His stores are throughout all of Paris and all over the world. The only one located in the US happens to be at a terminal at JFK( at least they should open one in the city!). Now, macarons are not my top go-to treat. But, I appreciate and know when I have eaten a world-class macaron. Pierre Herme makes them perfectly! For me, the real stars are their other fancy looking pastries. The stores display their pastries like a jewelry counter. I want to try all the delicacies they have available when I visit. 2. L’Éclair de Génie(14 rue Pavee, 75004 Paris, France)
Who doesn’t love a good éclair? The regular old chocolate covered and buttercream filled éclairs never were on my top pastry love list. But, after visiting this place, only fancy éclair’s are the ones I can eat from now on. L’Éclair de Génie knows how to make tasty éclairs which such unique flavors from Pistachio Framboise to a Citron Yuzu Meriganue flavored one. Not only do they look artistic, but they are delicious. 3.Odette Paris (77 rue Galande, 75005 Paris, France)
View from Odette’s Window can you say YUM
One of the cutest places I ate was on the top floor of the small bakery which overlooked the Notre Dame on a rainy day. The little morsels of choux buns are amazing. Who doesn’t love a good cream puff filled with exotic and delicious flavors from praline to
4. Amorino Gelato ( locations throughout Paris)
Technically Amorino’s is not a bakery, but it’s a beloved sweet, so it fits. What makes Amorino’s well-loved is besides having tasty gelato is that they shape your ice cream flavor choices into a pretty flower. You could also get it in a cup, but that would be boring and defeat the purpose of going there. If you’re in the US they have locations all over including Boston, New York, and California. 5. Maison Kayser( locations throughout Paris)
Recently Maison Kayser opened their stores in the US! My favorite item of theirs is their almond croissants which are the best I ever had in my life as of yet. Their locations have everything from sandwiches, drinks,
6. Angelina (226 rue de Rivoli, 75001 Paris, France)
This belle, opaque style teahouse, opened back in 1903. They offer everything from breakfast to dinner. But, the star of this teahouse is its desserts and their world famous hot chocolate. Their hot chocolate is very thick and rich. It is not your typical water downed Swiss Miss. Angelina’s pastry display case is a thing of beauty. When I visited, I opted to try a few of their gorgeous pastries, and my friend tried their afternoon tea. You have to try it at least once on your visit to Paris!
