One thing I am always on the lookout for is an all-natural tinted moisturizer. So, when I discovered W3LL People Bio-Tint Multi-Action Moisturizer, I got excited. I try to have a high percentage in my skincare be clean beauty, and currently, about 50% of my makeup is clean beauty. My two favorite tinted moisturizers are Laura Mercier’s tinted moisturizer and bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream.
My face leans more on the drier side from using tretinoin/retinol and different acids ( aha’s/bha’s). So, when it comes to a product that has the word moisturizer in its name I need to be very moisturizing on my dry skin both in the winter and in the summer. Plus, I love when it leaves a slight dewy glow or sheen. My skin is usually pretty good( besides a pesky blemish I get once a month that stays forever), and I enjoy low-coverage formula’s.
The Brand- W3LL People
According to their website, W3LL People was founded by an elite makeup artist, tree-hugging entrepreneur, and a cosmetic dermatologist. They are a clean beauty brand that claims to use natural ingredients and no harmful artificial chemicals typically found in makeup. Now, I love the whole clean beauty movement. But, it’s important to always research the ingredients in your products. What one brand might consider “clean” another brand might not consider clean. I am on the clean beauty train though as much as I can be, and when I find an amazing product.
W3LL People Bio-Tint Multi-Action Moisturizer – What is it?
It is supposed to be a tinted moisturizer. But, at the same time, I feel like they could have called this a BB cream as well since it is on the thicker side. On their website, they describe the product as, “ Achieve one-step perfection with this breakthrough all-natural makeup/skincare hybrid. Active phytonutrients and pure zinc protect, brighten, hydrate, and improve skin quality while diminishing imperfections. Enjoy a flawless, natural, more radiant complexion with this luxurious, organic, plant-based wonder.”
W3LL People Bio-Tint Multi-Action Moisturizer- Ingredients
- The thing I love about this product is that it has natural ingredients that are non-toxic, plant-based, and vegan. Here are the main ingredients that the company highlights
- Zinc Oxide 20% ( a physical sunblock)
- Advanced bio-peptide complex- helps boosts collagen
- Premium natural pigments to correct imperfection
- Organic coconut – hydrates skin
- Broccoli seed oil -smooths and brightens skin
- Organic pomegranate- rejuvenates skin
- Algae extracts- helps combat hyper-pigmentation
- Organic Ginseng anti-oxidizes and revitalizes
- So, right there, everything looks well. And, I liked it doesn’t have many of the “dirty” ingredients that is often in the tinted moisturizers I have already. It is free of the following: Animal Cruelty, Parabens, Petrochemicals, Petrolatum, Gluten, GMOs, Phthalates, Sulfates/SLS, Oxybenzone, Avobenzone, Artificial Fragrance, Phenoxyethanol, Butylated Hydroxyanisole/BHA, Butylated Hydroxytoluen/BHT, Dimethicone, Silicone, Triclosan, PEG, Dioxane, Propylene Glycol, Lead/Lead Compounds, Coal Tar Dyes, PEG Compounds, Mineral Oil, Talc, Nano Particles, Formaldehyde
How to Use
On their website it advises to apply to freshly exfoliated skin with fingertips and for best results to mix in drops of their Bio Booster Serum. Now, I don’t like when it advises for better results to use another one of their serums. Because, if it is moisturizing enough, you don’t need yet another serum to add to it, right? You are supposed to shake it well.
My Experience
Shade – I got the shade Fair, which was not light enough for me. And it was on the orange side.
Formula- It is a heavy cream similar to a BB cream.
Application- I cleaned my skin, applied my go-to moisturizing primer, and then used my fingers to rub it in. Then, I finished applying it with my beauty sponge.
Finish– It is suppose to leave a light Satin Finish. But, it looked matte on me.
How it looked and felt – I was rooting for this. I really was when I saw it for the first time. The product did not blend well on my face. When it dried down, it clung to the dry patches I had and didn’t look satin at all. It has a heavier consistency than I am used to in a tinted moisturizer, and after a while, it looked cakey.
I tried applying it by itself without anything on my face before it, but it just always made my face look drier than it was actually. Then, I tried applying it after properly applying hydrating skincare products on my face and letting them really sink in on my face for 40 minutes, and then following up with this product. But again it just looked terrible on my face.
Last thoughts
Finding a true clean beauty tinted moisturizer has been difficult for me. I just want one that is moisturizing enough and provides a nice dewy finish. And, for me, the most difficult makeup product for me when it comes to my dry face is the foundation/ tinted moisturizer and concealers. I spent a long time reading their reviews on their website, Target, and other beauty bloggers which all complained about the same issues I had even as far back as two years ago. So, I do wonder why they haven’t reformulated it yet.
So, while I may not have loved this product, I am very open to trying their other makeup products in the future from eyeshadows, blushes, and lip products. They currently sell their products at Target, The Detox Market, Credo, and Follain.
