The most important experience you can do in London is to have afternoon tea. Afternoon Tea can cost between £20 a more casual tea to £70 for a high-end tea. But, if it is your first time in London, I would say go all out and try high tea at one of the many famous places.
**I have been to these Afternoon Tea’s throughout the years, but did not include a detailed description of their food offerings. Because, places that offer afternoon tea change their offerings every year/ per season.
** Always be sure to book your afternoon tea in advance. During the summers and holidays, some popular places can be booked months in advance. They often ask for your credit card info to make the reservation, so in case you cancel they charge you a cancellation fee.
Claridges (in Mayfair)
I came here for the first time for my birthday tea with my Mom. It was my first real British Afternoon in Tea, and got me hooked. The food was terrific, and the staff was great. I loved the art-deco design of the tea salon, and the vibe of the area. I especially loved the white/light blue tea set. Basically, everything was amazing, and if you love tea, they include a vast selection of tea to choose. I especially liked the live pianist and violinist. Sanderson Hotel( in Fitzrovia) – Mad Hatters Afternoon Tea
Are you an Alice in Wonderland fan? Want a whimsical afternoon tea? Come here! Everything from the desserts to the sandwiches was themed and cutely packaged. Their afternoon tea is pure instagrammable bliss. They have their tea in a covered outdoor terrace which is very relaxing, and it’s nice having the sun shine down on you while enjoying your meal.

The Ritz ( in Piccadilly)
“You have to have tea at The Ritz!” That is all I ever heard for so long. So, I finally did. The tea is held at The Palm Court which is a beautiful saloon that just exudes luxury. It’s a pretty fancy swanky place. The food was tasty, and the staff was truly first class. But, in all honesty, I have yet gone to a tea where I paid £70 and not have had excellent service. Cutter and Squidge (in Soho)
This is an adorable cake shop in Soho that has crazy good looking pastry on its top floor. They magically transform their basement to hold a themed tea. Every so often they change their theme.
When I went in the summer of 2017, they had their Genie’s Cave Afternoon Tea which was a very magical experience. They indeed created something similar to a genie’s cave. Now, the food was amazing, and the staff were the nicest people. From start to finish it was a fun experience. They once had a Hello Kitty themed tea. Currently, they have a Potion Room themed tea similar to Harry Potter. ( For legal reasons they can’t call their tea Aladdin’s Tea or Harry Potters Tea, but something similar to it.)
