Pixi Beauty Mist Review: Glow Mist and Hydrating Milky Mist

Who doesn’t want to have glowy and hydrated skin?

I recently picked up Pixi Hydrating Milk Mist and Pixi Glow Mist. The first time I ever heard of Pixi was when I was visiting London. While walking in Covent Garden in 2010, I went inside their store. The first item I ever bought from them was their lip blushes. They are very popular in Europe, and in the US it is a popular brand. If you are from the US it is currently sold at Target and on their own website.

Packaging of Pixi Beauty Mist

I love the packaging of Pixi’s beauty products. It is very sleek and simple with their iconic mint green packaging. Both these mists have a fine spray, but sometime they may tend to mist out droplets. But, that happens with any mists, and you can use a beauty sponge to pat it around your face.

Pixi Glow Mist

I have dry skin due to using tretinoin and Sunday Riley’s Good Genes. So, I am always looking for products that keep my face moisturized, and I love that dewy glow. So, according to Pixi’s website this product is meant to:

  • Gives a glowing, luminous and smooth complexion
  • Enriched with 13 natural oils plus propolis, aloe vera, and fruit extracts
  • Hydrates, protects and nourishes
  • Sets makeup, adds a dewy finish and protects skin
  • Refreshes makeup, hydrates and adds glow
  • Use on hair for a luminous, healthy glow
  • Suits all skin types

I think it that it lives up to all its claims. I use it on bare skin days when I want a glow on no-makeup days. In general, when I wear makeup, I use a tinted moisturizer already. But, when I add this over my makeup, it leaves my face with a beautiful non-greasy dewy look. When I use a real foundation that is drying this mist melts my makeup beautifully. It has no shimmer in it and a minimal scent. You can use it before you put on makeup as a primer or after as a setting spray. I prefer it after makeup because I use a primer typically. If you want a JLO glow get this mist.

Pixi Glow Mist Ingredients

What I love most about the Glow Mist is that it contains no alcohol. I never get why products that claim to hydrate the skin contain alcohol. Now, I don’t have an issue with any of the ingredients.
Here is the list of the main ingredients from their website.

The main ingredients Pixi advertises for this product are: Rose Flower Oil( soothes & hydrates), Propolis Extract ( for antioxidant properties), and Lavender Oil ( to soothes and calm skin). There are a large number of oils in the mist to give users a dewy look. I think maybe if you had oily skin this product might not be ideal for you. But for everyone else, I think it is worth a buy if you have dry skin, and want that dewy glow. I only wish this came in a travel size one day.

Pixi Hydrating Milky Mist

My skin gets super dry at times, so I love any mist that hydrates my face. This mist is super hydrating on bare skin and under makeup. From Pixi’s website they claim the following:
• This featherlight mist provides an instant surge of hydration with hyaluronic acid to plump skin
• A blend of black oat, provitamin A, and linoleic acid makes this rejuvenator the perfect first layer of moisture before serums or makeup
• Suits all skin types/ Paraben-free

I think it lives up to its claims. It leaves my skin hydrated and plump. I typically would use this in the morning in my morning skincare routine. And, then follow up with primer and makeup.  But, if I am having a dry skin day from overusing my other active products, I spray this on my face throughout the day.

Pixi Hydrating Milky Mist Ingredients

The main ingredients Pixi advertises for their Milky Mist is: Hyaluronic Acid( moisturizes), Black Oat Extract ( reduces inflammation), and Vitamin B Complex( to strengthen skin). Now, I think those are all wonderful ingredients. Here are the complete ingredient list from Pixi’s website:

I love that it has Hyaluronic Acid. I use another Hyaluronic Acid serum already, but having Hyaluronic Acid in this spray is another benefit.

Now for me, I do not like that it has two types of alcohols in their product. Alcohols can be drying to the skin. Also, I typically avoid products that have phenoxyethanol. I mean there is lots of controversy of how harmful this ingredient is in makeup. And, in the end, who really knows if the claims that it is terrible for your health in the long run. So, I try to limit the use of products that have this ingredient in it. Laura Mercier’s Tinted Moisturizer is my favorite product I have been using since high school, and it has phenoxyethanol.  So, I would limit the number of skincare/makeup products that use phenoxyethanol.

Overall Recommendation

I loved them both, but if I had to pick one I would repurchase the Glow Mist; only due to the fact I don’t prefer hydrating sprays that have alcohol and phenoxyethanol as the Milky Mist. I think the Glow Mist is as good as some of the higher end mists that you would find at Sephora or any department store.
